PINEVILLE, La. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team tied Louisiana College in a double overtime contest in Pineville Friday evening. The tie moves the Cru to 3-4-1 on the season and 0-0-1 in American Southwest Conference play while the Wildcats move to 4-3-2 overall.
McKenna Cook gave UMHB a lead in the 17th minute with an assist from John Williams. Ben Hammonds gave UMHB some security in the 20th minute with an unassisted goal. UMHB held a 2-0 lead at the half, but the Wildcats responded with a goal in the 53rd minute from Pedro Silva and a goal in the 59th minute from Rodrigo Neves to tie the game. Neither team was able to score in either overtime period, resulting in a 2-2 tie.
Both teams recorded 11 shots in the match. Cook led the Cru with four shots while Bruno Campos had three for the Wildcats. Javier Zaragoza played the entire match in the goal for the Cru, recording four saves and two allowed goals while Travis Alexander also played the entire match for the Wildcats, recording four saves and two allowed goals.
The Cru returns to action tomorrow in a 6 p.m. match at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.
