Men’s Soccer edges U.T.-Tyler 1-0 in the ASC First Round


RICHARDSON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team edged U.T.-Tyler 1-0 Thursday afternoon in the 2014 American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. The win improved the Cru 8-6-3 on the season while the Patriots finish their season at 8-5-4.

McKenna Cook gave the Cru its game-winning goal in the 74th minute off an assist from Luke Lopez. UMHB's defense withheld a late offensive surge from the Patriots and earned the 1-0 shutout.

Nate Fagnant and Logan Keeler led the Cru with three shots while several other added two. UMHB outshot the Patriots 16-9 in the match and took five corner kicks to the Patriots' one. Blake Lander recorded the shutout in the goal for the Cru, recording four saves. John McGuffin took the loss for U.T.-Tyler, allowing one goal and making two saves.

UMHB advances to the second round of the 2014 ASC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament and will face No. 1 U.T.-Dallas on Saturday, Nov. 8th at 11 a.m
