Box ScoreBELTON, Texas – No. 2 East Texas Baptist University swept No. 5 Concordia Texas 3-0 Friday afternoon in Belton. The Tigers grabbed a 25-20, 25-21, 25-21 over the Tornados to advance in the 2014 American Southwest Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament.
Adaeze Elonu led the Tigers with 11 kills while Mallory Sanders added 10. Kayla Taylor led the ETBU offense with 32 assists as the Tigers hit 41 kills on 141 attacks for a .177 hitting percentage. Defensively, ETBU recorded 64 team digs led by Hannah Jones with 16. The Tigers totaled six team blocks, led by Elonu, Danielle Miller and Kolby Sharp each with three.
Shelby Baker led the Tornados with 11 kills while Skye Truss recorded 10. Zoe Allen helped Concordia with 21 assists while the team hit 41 kills on 136 attacks for a .118 hitting percentage. Defensively, Cassie Dominguez recorded 26 digs en route to a team-total 70. The Tornados added eight blocks to their defense, led by Jordan Redmond with four.
No. 2 East Texas Baptist will advance to face No. 6 Hardin-Simmons in an elimination match at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7
