Box Score Photo GalleryTyler, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis team fell behind in doubles and could not battle back through singles in a 5-0 loss to U.T.-Dallas in the Semifinals of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Saturday in Tyler. The loss ends the season for the Cru women at 11-5 overall. The Comets improve to 10-4 with the victory and advance to Sunday's Championship Match.
The Cu fell behind 3-0 in doubles play.
Haley Hicks and Lizzie Ostroff fell 8-5 at #3 doubles and
Chaley Shiffler and
Hannah Warren lost 8-4 at #1 doubles.
AshLee Bilbo and
Angelie Juaneza pushed UTD at #2 doubles before falling 9-8 to make it a Comet sweep in doubles. Juaneza would fall to Mindy Tiu 6-1, 6-0 at #4 singles and Hicks lost 6-0, 6-0 at #6 singles to end the match. Warren was up a set at #3 singles for the Cru when the match was stopped. Bilbo and Ostroff were both down a set at #2 and #5 singles respectively and Shiffler was trailing Casey Johnson in the first set at #1 singles when the match ended.
Saturday's loss also closes out the UMHB playing careers of Cru seniors Bilbo, Shiffler and
Penelope Kittel. UMHB was playing in the ASC Semifinals for the seventh straight season.
