Box Score BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team remains undefeated in American Southwest Conference action with a 3-1 win over U.T.-Dallas Saturday afternoon in Belton. The win improves the Cru to 14-3 on the season and 6-0 in conference play while the Comets fall to 10-4 overall and 4-2 in ASC action.
UMHB started the first set with a 3-2 deficit, but rallied with six straight points to an 8-3 lead. U.T.-Dallas cut the lead to two at the 15-13 mark but was not able to catch up, giving the Cru a 25-16 first-set win. The Comets kept the second set close and did not let UMHB lead by more than six, but the Cru kept a lead at the end taking the set 25-22. UMHB maintained control of the third set until the Comets went on a 6-0 run to take the third 25-23. UMHB again took early control of the fourth, taking the match 4-1 with a 25-18 fourth-set win.
Cheyenne Dowdey led the Cru with 16 kills while Abby Voskuil added 14 and Kendall Pye had nine. Shelby Prather recorded 28 assists followed by Pye's 26. Defensively, Kendra Feldmann recorded 20 digs with Prather's 19 and Pye's 16 to follow. UMHB recorded 7.5 team blocks, led by Dowdey's four block assists. UMHB totaled 59 kills for a .250 hitting percentage and limited the Comets to 47 kills and .202 percentage.
UMHB returns to action Friday, October 3rd in a 7 p.m. match at LeTourneau University.
