UMHB is 5-0 overall on the season and has a 1-0 mark in ASC play following a 62-20 victory over Sul Ross State last Saturday. The Cru is ranked #2 in the country by the American Football Coaches Association and UMHB is #3 in the nation in the D3football.com Top 25 Poll. Louisiana College is 2-3 overall and has a 1-1 record in ASC play on the season. The Wildcats have won two straight games entering Saturday's contest and are looking for their first win over UMHB in the history of this series. Not only will the Cru be playing its first road game it more than a month, this will also be UMHB's first trip to Pineville since the 2012 regular season. The Cru trailed 3-0 late in the first half of that meeting before Javicz Jones returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown on the final play of the second quarter. UMHB went on to a 30-3 victory in that game and the Cru expects another battle in this year's contest.
"There are a lot of good athletes in South Louisiana and they always seem to get their share," UMHB Head Coach
Pete Fredenburg said. "We have great respect for what (LC head coach) Dennis Dunn has been able to accomplish there and it will be a challenge again facing them. I think we are in a good frame of mind going in, though. Our players celebrate the wins but also understand they can do better and that we need to improve from how we performed in last week's ball game."
UMHB leads the all-time series between the two teams 15-0. The Cru has also won 59 consecutive regular season games and 38 straight ASC games entering Saturday's game. UMHB has won its last 28 regular season road games in a row. All of those streaks date back to a 17-14 loss at Mississippi College on October 17, 2009, exactly six years to the day of Saturday's contest.
