Men’s Basketball falls 81-71 to Texas Lutheran

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's basketball team fell 81-71 to Texas Lutheran University Saturday afternoon in Belton. The win improved the Bulldogs to 6-1 on the season while UMHB fell to 2-2 overall.
 
Both teams exchanged leads early before the Bulldogs pulled away with a 7-0 run with just over four minutes left in the half. UMHB responded, tying the game at 33 before the Bulldogs hit a free throw and a jumper to end the half with a 36-33 advantage. Texas Lutheran grabbed a lead in the second half with a 10-2 run, keeping a lead on the Cru for the duration of the half. UMHB trailed by as many as 16 points before pulling within 10 to end the game.
 
Daniel Mills and Demarius Cress led the Cru with 13 points while Sidney Deloach added 11. Layton Zinsmeister led the Cru with four assists as UMHB shot 30.9 in the contest. Defensively, Sidney Deloach led the Cru with 11 rebounds while Austen Stolte and Zinsmeister added seven each. UMHB totaled 53 rebounds in the contest, adding eight blocks and four steals. Texas Lutheran was led by Jordan Kouremetis with 18 points, followed by Zach Behr with 15 and Blake Ray with 10. UMHB shot 62.8 percent from the free throw line while the Bulldogs went 38.4 in the game and 40.7 from beyond the arc.
 
UMHB returns to action Monday, December 14th in a 7 p.m. match against Schreiner University at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton
