Softball drops 4-0 decision to No. 2 U.T.-Tyler

TYLER, Texas – After a two-hour rain delay, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 2 University of Texas at Tyler in Tyler. The loss dropped the Cru to 16-9 on the season and 14-5 in American Southwest Conference action while the Patriots improved to 29-1 on the season and 21-1 in conference play.  
 
U.T.-Tyler gained a lead early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Patriots added another run in the bottom of the fourth when KK Stevens hit a home run for a 3-0 U.T.-Tyler lead. The Patriots added one more run in the bottom of the fourth, securing the 4-0 victory. Janie Neyland, Leah Brown and Kelsey Vann each recorded a hit for the Cru. Haley Parker took the loss in the circle, pitching 3.1 innings allowing four hits and three runs. Karen Tennis pitched 2.2 innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits with one strikeout. UMHB totaled three hits and one error while the Patriots had four runs on six hits with one error.
 
UMHB will finish the series tomorrow in a 3 p.m. doubleheader in Tyler. The Cru returns home Friday, April 17th in a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Dee Dillon Field in Belton. UMHB will honor the 2015 senior class after Friday's games.
