Box Score Photo GalleryTyler, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis team fell behind in doubles and could not claw its way back in singles as the Cru fell to Hardin-Simmons 5-0 in the semifinals of the American Southwest Conference Tournament Friday afternoon in Tyler. UMHB was making its ninth straight appearance in the ASC Tournament semifinals.
The Cowgirls swept through doubles, winning 8-3, 8-2 and 8-3 to take a 3-0 lead into singles play. HSU then posted wins at #1 and #2 singles to close out the match. The Cru was also trailing in the other four singles matches when the match was decided. The two teams were meeting for the second time in less than a week. Hardin-Simmons beat UMHB 6-3 in the regular season finale for both teams last Sunday in Belton.
The loss ends the Cru's season at 8-9 overall and also closes out the playing career of lone UMHB senior
Angelie Juaneza. The Cowgirls improve to 10-7 with the victory and advance to Saturday's Championship Match to face tournament host and defending conference champion U.T.-Tyler.
