Football to host Millsaps in 2015 home opener this Saturday

Game Notes

Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will look for major improvement from week one as the Cru returns home to host Millsaps College in the 2015 home opener on Saturday. UMHB will take on the Majors in a 6:00 PM start at Crusader Stadium in a rematch of last year's season opener. Saturday's game is also the first of a school-record seven regular season home games for the Cru this year.

The Cru won the initial meeting between these two teams 43-7 last season in Jackson, Mississippi. Both teams are coming off season-opening victories last week. The Majors rebounded from a disappointing 3-6 season a year ago by knocking off crosstown rival Belhaven University 52-23. A young Millsaps team forced several late turnovers and made them hurt as the Majors broke open a three-point game by scoring the final 26 points of the contest. UMHB went on the road and topped Ohio Wesleyan 42-3 last weekend. The Cru also needed a big fourth quarter to put the game away and the UMHB coaching staff is counting on the team showing improvement from that performance in this week's game

"I certainly hope that we do because we were disappointed in our execution in that game, especially on offense," Cru Head Coach Pete Fredenburg said. "We have guys who can and have done it, so we need to be patient with them and keep working hard and focusing on getting better. Millsaps is very well-coached and they are just so disciplined. They did a really nice job of staying within themselves and executing on both sides of the ball to take control of that game last week."

UMHB enters the contest ranked #4 in the nation by D3football.com. The Cru has also won 55 consecutive regular season games, 41 straight night games and has never lost a regular season game at Crusader Stadium.
