Men's Soccer plays Hardin-Simmons to draw

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team played Hardin-Simmons to a 1-1 draw Saturday night in Belton. UMHB moved to 8-4-1 on the season and 4-1-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Cowboys moved to 6-3-2 overall and 4-1-2 in league play.
 
Logan Keeler found the back of the net off a free kick to give UMHB a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. The Cru held that lead until the 58th minute when Hardin-Simmons evened the game at 1-1. Neither team was able to score again in regulation or overtime, ending the contest in a 1-1 draw. Case Carnes led the Cru with five shots while Keeler had four and Caleb Latson had three. Javier Zaragoza played the full 110 minutes in the goal for UMHB, allowing one goal with six saves. Michael Vargas also played a full contest for Hardin-Simmons, making 11 saves with one goal allowed. UMHB outshot the Cowboys 18-13, putting 12 shots on goal.
 
UMHB will return to action Friday, October 21st in a 7:30 p.m. match vs. LeTourneau University at the UMHB Soccer Fields in Belton.
