Box Score Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis team trailed after doubles but stormed back in singles play to post a 6-3 victory over Howard Payne University Saturday in Belton. The Cru women improve to 3-7 overall and 2-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the win.
Elizabeth Ostroff and
Hope Nash teamed for an 8-0 victory at #3 doubles, but the Cru was down 2-1 entering singles play. Ostroff won at #1 singles,
Sarah Sedory took #3 singles and
Haley Hicks added a victory at #4 singles to give UMHB a 4-2 lead,
Ashlee Montgomery clinched the win with a gritty 7-6, 7-6 victory at #2 singles.
Hope Nash would go on to add an insurance point with a win at #6 singles.
The Cru women will return to action with their final home match of the spring next Wednesday. UMHB will host Southwestern University for a 3:30 PM non-conference match that day.
