Interview with Coach Bankhead
BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team will make a familiar trip to San Antonio for the First Round of the NCAA Division III National Championships. UMHB won the program's first American Southwest Conference title and automatic bid to the national tournament. This is the program's second trip to the NCAA Tournament; UMHB earned an at-large bid in 2009.
The Cru will face Willamette in the First Round of the NCAA Regional on Saturday, November 11
th at 7:30 p.m. Trinity University earned the right to host a First Round regional and will face ASC foe UT Tyler on Saturday, November 11
th. Winners of those matches will advance to play each other on Sunday, November 12
th.
Head Coach
Brad Bankhead guided the Cru to a new ASC record for consecutive wins in a season and new program record for wins in a season (15). The Cru was also ranked in the Top 25 Poll for the second time in program history.
"We're excited, " Bankhead said. "We're blessed to be here. I'm really proud of these guys."
Willamette earned the Northwest Conference co-championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The Bearcats are currently 10-6-2 on the season. Trinity won their sixth straight SCAC title to gain their entrance into the tournament while UT Tyler earned an at-large bid after a 2017 ASC Runners-Up finish.
UMHB opened the season at Trinity with a 0-2 loss before winning 12 straight contests. The 62-team tournament features 42 automatic qualifiers and 20 at-large participants. First Round games will be played at Trinity University in San Antonio. Ticket and broadcast information will be posted when it becomes available.
