CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team earned an 83-59 victory over University of the Ozarks Thursday evening in Clarksville. UMHB improved to 6-2 on the season and 2-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Eagles fell to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.
UMHB used a 10-2 run to close out a close first quarter and give the Cru a seven-point advantage. UMHB held a lead throughout the second quarter, ending the first half with a score of 37-23. The Cru did not trail again in the contest, securing the 24-point win.
Hannah Holt led the Cru with 22 points followed by
Kendall Rollins with 18.
Alicia Blackwell led the Cru with 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Blackwell also added 11 points, recording just the eighth triple-double in ASC history. Holt also added four steals,
Haven Neal ranked second in rebounds with six and
Meghan Turner added five more assists.
Hailey Ostrander led the Eagles with 17 points while Destinee Manning brought down 20 rebounds. UMHB shot 41.7 percent in the contest, 30 percent from beyond the arc and 73.9 percent from the free throw line. Ozarks put up a 41.2 shooting percentage, 31.6 percent performance from the beyond the arc and 68.8 percentage in foul shots.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, December 16
th in a 2 p.m. match at the University of Texas at Tyler. The Cru returns home for a 5 p.m. match against Schreiner University on Monday, December 18
th.
