BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team beat Schreiner University 2-0 in the 2017 home opener Friday afternoon in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 2-0 on the season while the Mountaineers fell to 1-3.
Zoe Elledge scored her first collegiate goal in the contest, heading the ball over the goalkeeper off a cross from
Taylor Marques to give the Cru a 1-0 lead in the 18
th minute. UMHB held that lead until the 83
rd minute when
Brooke Tatsch scored off an assist from
Autumn Dunnam for the 2-0 victory.
Marques led the Cru with four shots while Elledge,
Chelsea Graham and
Caitlyn Shaughnessy each added two. Julia Revils led Schreiner with two shots.
Emmy McMaude earned the win for UMHB, making one save in the first half.
Cassidi Musser played the second half in relief of Musser. Jordin Toso took the loss for Schreiner, allowing two goals with five saves. UMHB outshot the Mountaineers 14-3 in the contest, putting seven shots on goal.
The Cru returns to action on Saturday, September 9
th in an 11 a.m. match against Wartburg College on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
