BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team used a dominant second half to take a 5-0 win over Concordia University Texas Friday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 8-3-2 overall and 7-1-o in American Southwest Conference action while the Tornados fell to 5-7 on the season and 4-4 in league play.
The first half went scoreless with UMHB outshooting the Tornados 9-3 in the first half.
Madison Link broke the drought early in the second, scoring in the 51
st minute for a 1-0 UMHB lead.
Bailey Aleman and
Saige Serigny added back-to-back goals in the 63
rd minute and 66
th minute to put UMHB up by three.
Emily Blaettner scored the fourth goal of the night, one-touching a pass from
Madison Link in the 75
th minute.
Rachel Bloom netted the Cru's fifth goal, hitting in a corner kick from
Emily Blaettner for a 5-0 UMHB win.
Link led the Cru with six shots while
Chelsea Graham,
Taylor Marques and Serigny each added three. UMHB outshot the Tornados 27-4 in the contest, putting 17 shots on frame. Five Crusaders scored goals while Link led the team with two assists.
Emmy McMaude played 74 minutes in goal for UMHB, making four saves. Shelby Franco went the distance for the Tornados, making 12 saves with five goals allowed.
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, October 18
th in a 5 p.m. game against Hardin-Simmons University at the UMHB Soccer Fields in Belton.
