Football to host McMurry for Homecoming

Game Notes

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will return to Crusader Stadium this weekend after a two-game road trip looking to stay undefeated on the season. The Cru will host McMurry University for a 1 pm kickoff on Homecoming.

UMHB improved to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in American Southwest Conference play with a 49-0 victory at Belhaven University last Saturday. The Cru has recorded three straight shutouts for the first time in program history and has not given up a point in the month of October. UMHB can also move one win closer to clinching a share of the ASC title and locking up the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships with a victory over the War Hawks.

McMurry is 2-5 overall and 2-4 in ASC play on the season and had a bye last Saturday. The War Hawks have lost the last 14 meetings with UMHB after sweeping the inaugural two games between the two programs. McMurry will bring a pass-heavy attack into the game against a Cru defense that has allowed less than 100 yards of total offense to each of its last two opponents.

"They are going to want to throw the ball and will have a good plan against us," UMHB Head Coach Pete Fredenburg said. "Their coaches do a good job. We have to give great effort this week because even though we are 7-0, I feel like we are very much still a work in progress."

UMHB goes into the game ranked second in the nation by both the American Football Coaches Association and D3football.com. The Cru has won 29 consecutive regular season games and has a 23-game ASC winning streak going into Saturday's contest. In addition to Homecoming festivities, the UMHB women's golf team will also be recognized at halftime with the presentation of their ASC Championship rings.
