Game Notes
BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will close out its abbreviated regular season home schedule as Louisiana College comes to town this Saturday. The Cru and the Wildcats will face off in a 1 pm kickoff at Crusader Stadium.
UMHB will go into the game at 8-0 overall and 7-0 in American Southwest Conference play. The Cru has won all 18 previous meetings with Louisiana College and can clinch at least a share of the ASC title and clinch the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships with a win over the Wildcats. UMHB is coming off an 80-7 victory over McMurry University last Saturday.
Louisiana College is 4-4 overall and has 4-3 mark in ASC play on the season. The Wildcats are coming off a 42-7 win over Belhaven University last Saturday and have won four of their last six games after starting the season 0-2. LC quarterback Mason Jordan has thrown for 1,487 yards and 16 touchdowns and three Wildcat receivers have six or more TD grabs on the year. The Louisiana College defense has forced 22 turnovers on the season.
"I think we are going to get their best shot and we have to be prepared to play our best game," UMHB Head Coach
Pete Fredenburg said. "LC is big and athletic and they can get hot and have a bunch of playmakers. We have so much going for us right now. We need to keep that going and continuing to develop as a football team. We are getting closer to being the team that we think we can be. There is just so much at stake in every game this time of year."
UMHB goes into the game ranked second in the nation by both the American Football Coaches Association and D3football.com. The Cru has won 30 consecutive regular season games and has a 24-game ASC winning streak going into Saturday's contest. Saturday will be Military Appreciation Day and all active duty military and their families will receive free admission to the game.
