ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team earned a 2-0 semifinal win over the University of Texas at Dallas Friday evening in Abilene, advancing them to the championship match of the 2018 American Southwest Conference Women's Soccer Tournament.
Caitlyn Shaughnessy scored the unassisted game-winner for the Cru in the 47
th minute. UMHB added one more point on the scoreboard off an own-goal by the Comets.
Chelsea Graham led the Cru with four shots while
Taylor Marques and
Grace Greenly each added three. UMHB totaled 18 shots with seven on frame. The Cru defense limited UT Dallas to just five shots on frame and 12 total in the contest.
Emmy McMaude earned the win in the net for UMHB, making five saves in the full 90-minute contest. Monica Dallacasa took the loss for the Comets, allowing two goals with five saves made.
UMHB advances to the championship match of the 2018 American Southwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament and will face tournament-host Hardin-Simmons in a 1 p.m. match on Sunday, November 4th in Abilene. More information about the tournament is available at cruathletics.com.
