BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team cruised past Hardin-Simmons University Saturday afternoon in Belton, beating the Cowgirls 79-57 and notching the program's first undefeated record at home since moving into the Mayborn Campus Center. The win also guaranteed the Cru either a No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. UMHB improved to 19-3 on the season and 12-2 in conference play, finishing 11-0 at home. The Cowgirls moved to 4-17 overall and 2-12 in ASC action.
 
UMHB used a pair of 7-0 runs in the first quarter to gain advantage on the Cowgirls. After falling behind 2-0, the Cru constructed a 7-0 run to lead Hardin-Simmons 7-2. The Cowgirls tied it up at 10 each before UMHB used another 7-0 run to grab a lead, ending the first quarter with a 17-10 advantage. The Cru extended that lead outscoring the Cowgirls 21-12 in the second quarter and did not trail again. UMHB entered halftime with a 38-22 lead, led by Kendall Rollins with 16 points.
 
UMHB scored all of their 28 points in the third quarter from the field, shooting 66.7 percent and limiting the Cowgirls to just 42.1 percent. Hardin-Simmons' 25 points that quarter were a team  high, scoring 19 points from the field and banking six of their seven foul shots. UMHB scored 13 more points in the final quarter to the Cowgirls' 10, ending the game with a 79-57 win.
 
Rollins and Holt led the Cru with 25 points each while Alicia Blackwell added 10. UMHB shot 45.8 percent in the contest, 27.8 percent from beyond the arc and 80 percent in foul shots. Meghan Turner led UMHB with eight assists while Rollins was the leading rebounder with 11. Haven Neal also added nine boards, helping UMHB out-rebound the Cowgirls 46-39 in the contest.
 
Danie Mabry led Hardin-Simmons with 18 points, followed by Taylor Gaffney with 14 and Addison Garcia with 12. Hardin-Simmons shot 33.3 percent in the contest, 20 percent in threes and 91 percent from the line. The Cowgirls totaled 16 assists, 10 steals and two blocks.
 
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, February 10^th in a 2 p.m. game against Concordia University Texas in Austin.
