BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team built a 2-1 lead after doubles and then added wins in three singles matches for a 5-4 victory over Concordia Texas Tuesday afternoon in Belton. The Cru picked up wins from
Cole Weiss and
Jace Mahan at #1 doubles and from the team of
Alex Mackellar and
Jake Boles at #3 doubles to take a 2-1 lead going into singles play.
Brian Martin added a 6-0, 6-2 win at #4 singles, Mahan won 6-1, 6-1 at #3 singles and
Jake Boles clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #6 singles for the Cru. UMHB improves to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in American Southwest Conference West Division play with the victory. The loss drops the Tornados to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in the ASC West.
The Cru will now close out the regular season with a pair of matches in Abilene this weekend. UMHB will take on McMurry University on Friday before facing Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday. The Cru men have already clinched a berth in the ASC Championship Tournament.
