SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis team closed out play at the ITA Southwest Regional Tournament Saturday in San Antonio. The Cru women claimed one championship on the final day of the event.
In flight "C" doubles,
Alondra Torres Diaz and
Alexandra Kyser won the championship with an 8-4 victory over McMurry University's Kiara Jones and Kylie Long. Torres Diaz and Kyser posted a 9-8(3) semifinal win to move into the championship match.
In flight "C" consolation doubles,
Jessica Moore and
Laurel Turco fell 8-1 in one semifinal match.
Emyleigh Johnson and
Shannon Kelly dropped an 8-5 decision in the other semifinal.
In flight "B" singles, Kyser topped Kelly 6-4, 7-5 in the round of 16 in the consolation bracket before falling 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals. Torres Diaz lost 6-0, 6-0 in the round of 16 in that bracket.
The tournament was hosted by Trinity University and played at multiple sites in San Antonio. The ITA Southwest Regional also closes out the fall schedule for the UMHB women.
