Football faces first road test of season on Saturday

Game Notes

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will hit the road for the first time in 2019 this weekend as the Cru travels to Abilene to take on McMurry University on Saturday. UMHB will face the War Hawks in a 1 pm kickoff at Wilford Moore Stadium.

The Cru is coming off its most complete performance of the season in a 65-0 victory over Howard Payne University last Saturday. UMHB rolled up a season-high 577 yards of total offense and held the high-powered Yellow Jackets offense to just six first downs and 80 total yards. The Cru improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference play with that win. Now, the team will look for ways to take another step forward as UMHB plays outside of Crusader Stadium for the first time this season.

"I think our team was just so ready to play last Saturday and that was extraordinary," Cru Head Coach Pete Fredenburg said. "Going on the road is another step in the process because we have so many young guys who haven't been through it. There are some distractions on the road and we have to get used to do. We still have room to grow and develop and we need to take what we did last week and keep that momentum moving forward."

The Cru will go into Saturday's game ranked #1 in the country in both top 25 polls. UMHB has won 18 consecutive games overall, 35 straight regular season games and 29 ASC games in a row. McMurry is 0-4 overall and 0-3 in ASC play on the season after falling to Belhaven University 46-18 last Saturday. The Cru has won the last 15 meetings between the two teams and leads the all-time series with the War Hawks 15-2. UMHB will be looking for the 100th road win in program history in Saturday's contest.

Saturday's game will also be broadcast live on Fox Sports Radio (93.9 FM/1330 AM) and through the station's web site with the pre-game show starting at 12:30 PM. UMHB will provide free live video streaming for the game with access to the stream available at the following link: http://portal.stretchinternet.com/umhb/. McMurry will offer live statistics through a link that will also be available on the UMHB Athletic Department website.
