Football takes on Sul Ross in regular season finale

Game Notes

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will hit the road for the regular season finale this Saturday as the Cru heads to Alpine to take on Sul Ross State. That game will kick off at Jackson Field at noon as UMHB has its final tune-up for the postseason.

The Cru is coming off a 41-3 victory over Texas Lutheran University last Saturday in Belton. That win clinched a postseason berth for UMHB and guaranteed the team at least a share of the American Southwest Conference championship. The Cru is 9-0 overall and 8-0 in ASC play going into Saturday's contest in Alpine. UMHB will also go into the game having won 24 consecutive games overall, 35 ASC games in a row and 41 straight regular season games. The Cru can lock up the outright conference title and likely guarantee itself home field advantage throughout the playoffs with a victory over the Lobos. UMHB is also looking to maintain its positive momentum as the team gears up for another postseason run.

"We want to come out of this game really feeling good about ourselves," Cru Head Coach Pete Fredenburg said. "No one wants to be satisfied. It is up to our coaches and the leaders on this team to make sure we take advantage of this opportunity to keep getting better. We have a lot of players who have played in a National Championship game and understand the work that goes into it. We have to maintain that level of focus and energy, no matter who we are playing."

Sul Ross State is 3-6 overall and 3-5 in ASC play going into Saturday's game. The Lobos are coming off a 25-6 loss at Belhaven University last weekend. Sul Ross will be playing just its fourth home game of the season and the Lobos are 0-3 at Jackson Field this year. UMHB also leads the all-time series between the two teams 21-0.

Saturday's game will also be broadcast live on Fox Sports Radio (93.9 FM/1330 AM) and through the station's web site with the pre-game show starting at 11:30 am. UMHB will provide free live video streaming for the game and Sul Ross State offering live statistics with links to all of the coverage available on the athletic department web site at www.cruathletics.com.
