RICHARDSON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team was edged 1-0 by Concordia University Texas Friday in an American Southwest Conference Tournament Semifinal match in Richardson.
UMHB outshot the Tornados 8-7 in the first half, but trailed with 10 minutes remaining. Jason Saco-Vertiz put the Tornados up 1-0 in the 35
th minute, scoring off an assist from Victor Gomez. The Cru put up 11 shots in the second half but couldn't connect, ending the 2019 campaign in the ASC semifinals. The team finished with a record of 11-6-2 overall.
Brody Conley led the Cru with four shots while
Seth Neveloff added three. UMHB totaled 19 shots in the contest and allowed the Comets just 11.
Dalton Lloyd took the loss in the net for the Cru, making six saves with the lone goal allowed. Erik Rodriguez earned the win for the Tornados, making three saves in his shutout victory.
UMHB made its 13
th overall appearance in the tournament and sixth consecutive showing. The Cru has made it to the semifinal round of the tournament nine times with five semifinal appearances in the last six seasons. Concordia Texas advances to face tournament-host UT Dallas in the championship match Sunday in Richardson.
