BROWNWOOD, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team led 2-1 after doubles and then swept through singles on the way to an 8-1 victory over Howard Payne Friday in Brownwood. The Cru moves to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in American Southwest Conference West Division play with the victory. The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 1-10 overall and 0-1 in the ASC West.
Cole Weiss and
Jace Mahan teamed for a win at #1 doubles and
Alex Mackellar and
Brian Martin won by default at #3 to put UMHB up 2-1 after doubles. Martin won at #1 singles,
Robert Galligan took #2 singles, Weiss won at #3,
Jace Mahan took #4, Mackellar won at #5 and
Jake Boles closed it out with a victory at #6 singles for the Cru. The UMHB men will return to action with a 4 pm match at UT Dallas Saturday in Richardson.
