BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team kicks off a new season with a pair of matches this weekend in Abilene. The Cru opens the year with a 5 pm start against California Lutheran on Friday, August 30th, and then faces William Smith in another 5 pm kickoff on Saturday, August 31st. Both of those matches will be played at Hardin-Simmons University.

UMHB will enter the season picked to finish second in the American Southwest Conference after posting a second consecutive ASC runner-up finish in 2018. Head Coach Barry Elkins returns 18 letter winners and five starters from that team this season. The returners are highlighted by three All-Conference selections. Forward Chelsea Graham (Sr., Pasadena) was an All-Region selection and tied for the conference scoring lead last season. She was also voted ASC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year in the league's Preseason Poll. Midfielder Taylor Marques (Sr., Georgetown) and goalkeeper Emmy McMaude (Jr., Austin) are both two-time All-Conference picks. The Cru will also build around the experience of the other returners and a nucleus of talented returners. UMHB must find replacements for five departed All-Conference players this season.

The Cru will face a difficult schedule in 2019 with only seven home matches on the slate. UMHB's home opener will be a 7 pm start against Austin College on September 7th. Links to love coverage of this weekend's matches will be posted as soon as they become available.
