PINEVILLE, Louisiana – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team opened the game with an 11-0 run and the Cru never looked back on the way to an 83-52 victory over Louisiana College Saturday in Pineville, Louisiana. UMHB raises its record to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops he Wildcats to 2-10 overall and 0-4 in the ASC on the year.
Four different players scored in that game-opening run for the Cru and UMHB held LC scoreless for the first 5:22 of the contest. The Cru led 24-7 after the opening period and overcame a cold-shooting second quarter to stretch the lead to 34-14 at halftime. The Wildcats never pulled closer than 17 points in the second half as UMHB cruised to the win.
Alexia Martin led a balanced scoring effort for the Cru with 16 points on 6-9 shooting.
Hannah Holt added 14 points and fifteen players scored for UMHB on the day.

Kandyce Shepard had seven rebounds apiece to top the team and
Madison McCoy recorded five assists. The Cru shot 44 percent for the game as a team and hit 12-32 three-pointers in the game. UMHB also out rebounded Louisiana College 50-31, pulling down 13 offensive boards.
ZyUnn Cormier was the only player in double figures for the Wildcats with a game-high 21 points. LC shot just 28 percent from the field for the game and went 5-15 from beyond the arc.
The Cru women will now return home to host a pair of key ASC West Division games next week. UMHB will take on Hardin-Simmons in a 5:30 pm start on Thursday before welcoming McMurry University to the Mayborn Campus Center for a 1 pm tip on Saturday.
