BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis team will open the spring 2020 schedule with a home non-conference match on Friday, February 7
th. The Cru women will welcome Southwestern University to the Yvonne Li Tennis Center for a 3 pm start.
The UMHB women will be playing their first dual match of the
Daniel White era with Friday's competition. The former Cru tennis standout took over the program this summer following the retirement of James Cohagan. White will lead a UMHB team that returns just two players from last year's squad. The Cru women were picked to finish fourth in the West Division in the American Southwest Conference's Preseason Coaches Poll. Freshmen
Nathalie Galligan and
Victoria Rendon were named to the ASC Preseason Players to Watch List as they headline a group of six newcomers to this year's team.
Alondra Torres Diaz and
Laurel Turco are the only two returners back for UMHB this spring.
The Southwestern women will bring a 1-0 record into the match after opening the spring with a victory over St. Thomas. The Pirates are currently ranked 22
nd in the country in the ITA Division III National Rankings.
