BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's basketball team earned a dominating win over Arlington Baptist Saturday evening in Belton, beating the Patriots 110-91. The win improved the Cru to 3-0 on the season.
Payton Brooks opened the game with a three-pointer and UMHB took over from there. The Cru took its first double-digit lead of the game at 13:15 in the first half and cruised to a 69-30 first-half advantage.
Josiah Johnson led the Cru with 25 points in the first half, followed by
Ty Prince with 17. UMHB shot 61% in the first half, going 25-for-41 from the field and 10-for-20 from beyond the arc.
The Cru continued dominance in the second half, holding on for a 110-91 lead. Johnson recorded a double-double with 40 points and 10 rebounds while Prince also reached the landmark with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Prince recorded a team-high nine assists while Johnson led the Cru with four steals. UMHB shot 55.6% in the contest and 48.4% from beyond the arc.
Da'vione Stafford led the Patriots with 27 points, followed by Braxton Bosher with 21. The Patriots shot 52.9% in the contest and 33.3 percent in three-pointers. UMHB forced the Patriots into 18 turnovers, recording 11 steals as a team.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, December 4
th in the American Southwest Conference opener against University of the Ozarks at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
