Game Notes
BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will get to play on its home field for the first time since December of 2019 when the Cru finally opens the home portion of the spring 2021 schedule this Saturday. UMHB will welcome Southwestern University to Crusader Stadium for a noon kickoff.
The Cru will be playing for the first time since blanking Belhaven University 41-0 in the season opener back on February 6
th. UMHB had a scheduled open week and then last week's planned home opener against Louisiana College was postponed due to the winter weather. The Cru will be facing a Southwestern program that will also be playing for the first time since February 6
th, when the Pirates opened with a home loss to East Texas Baptist 28-17. Southwestern has had two scheduled games postponed due to winter weather issues. But it wasn't just games affected by the weather conditions, both teams also lost valuable practice time and that has made preparation for the upcoming game even more difficult.
"Southwestern presents so many challenges for you even during a normal week because of some of the things they do on both sides of the ball," Cru Head Coach
Pete Fredenburg said. "You have to make sure you get lined up correctly so you can attack and do the things we need to do to be successful. Had so many corrections we needed to make after the first game to get to where we want to be as a football team. We are excited about the chance to get back out there and play a football game and to do it on our home field."
UMHB leads the all-time series with Southwestern 3-0 and topped the Pirates 77-7 in the only previous meeting in Belton back in 2018. UMHB has scored on defense in each of those three meetings and has a combined total of seven defensive or special teams' touchdowns and a safety in the three games. The Cru has also limited Southwestern to just 20 total points over three contests.
Saturday's game will also be broadcast live on Fox Sports Radio (93.9 FM/1330 AM) and through the station's web site with the pre-game show starting at 11:30 AM. UMHB will provide free live video streaming and live statistics for the game with access to the stream available at the following link:

All tickets are general admission and social distancing and masking will also be encouraged. There will be no tailgating allowed at UMHB home football games this spring.
