BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team won its third match in a row, facing strong wind and the McMurry War Hawks Friday evening in Belton. UMHB improved to 3-0 on the season and 3-0 in American Southwest Conference action.
McMurry's Hallie Rutherford gave McMurry a 1-0 lead in the 18
th minute, scoring off a ricochet shot by Calista Flores.
Maria Rico scored the equalizer in the 62
nd minute off an assist from
Brynna Gardner. Gardner added another assist in the 72
nd minute when
Emily Blaettner scored the game-winner for the Cru, hitting the mark from 30 yards out.
Blaettner led the Cru with four shots while
Tyler Pierce added two. UMHB totaled 10 shots, putting four on frame. McMurry totaled nine shots in the contests while UMHB goalkeeper
Emmy McMaude made four saves. McMaude earned the win for the Cru, playing a full 90 minutes with one goal allowed. Cindy Villasana took the loss for the War Hawks, allowing two goals with two saves in 73 minutes of work.
The Cru returns to action on Monday, March 8
th in a 1 p.m. game at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.
