CLAREMONT, Calif. - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's basketball team earned an 84-71 win over Pomona-Pitzer Friday evening in Claremont. The win improved the Cru to a 2-1 record to open the season.
Ty Prince scored five unanswered points to open the game with a Cru lead. UMHB held on to advantage, leading by as any as 10 points in the first half. Prince led the Cru with 13 points in the first 20 minutes of action, followed by
Luke Feely with 10 and
Josiah Johnson with eight.
UMHB kept advantage through the second half, cruising to an 84-71 win. The Cru totaled 20 points off the bench with 13 points off turnovers and nine second-chance points. UMHB maintained the lead throughout the game, with 28 points in the paint and 13 fast-break points.
Johnson led the Cru with 28 points, followed by Prince with 20 and
Luke Feely with 16. Johnson and Feely each added a team-high seven rebounds while
Kyle Wright had a team-high five assists.
UMHB returns to action on Wednesday, November 16
th. The Cru will take on the Fort Hood Phantom Warriors in a 6:30 p.m. exhibition match in Belton. The game is also the second annual Toy Toss contest. Fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal to throw onto the court after the first UMHB scored points. All toys will be donated to McLane Children's Hospital in Temple.
