BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team used their bats and stellar pitching to earn a 13-0 victory in game one followed by a 7-0 victory in game two over Austin College Saturday evening in Belton. The two wins improve the Cru's overall record to 7-6 and drop the Roos to 4-9 on the season.

UMHB got the bats going early, posting an 8-run first inning.
Hayden Guerin opened up the scoring with a two-RBI double and just a couple batters later,
Rhett Grosz walked to score another run.
Blake Harmon extended the lead with an RBI sacrifice fly and was followed by a
Kaden deBerardinis double that scored two more runs. The scoring continued with an RBI single by
Sam Muniga and during the next at bat,
Drake Herrera scored on a balk by the pitcher. The Cru would take their 8-0 lead and extend it in the second frame on a double by Guerin that scored
Hunter Jones. An RBI groundout by Muniga in the third inning made it a 10-0 advantage for the Cru. UMHB wouldn't score again until the fifth inning when Herrera hit an RBI single, and
Malek Bolin hit a two-run homer to finalize the 13-0 victory.
James McGlumphy started on the mound for the Crusaders and earned the victory (2-1). He threw five shutout innings giving up four hits and striking out six batters.
Zack Honey and
Zach Carroll both pitched an inning of relief allowing zero runs. James Adams started on the mound for Austin College and surrendered the loss giving up 8 runs in just two-thirds innings pitched. Muniga, Bolin, and Guerin each had two hits and two RBIs in the contest, and three more Crusaders each added two hits-a-piece.

Bolin got the scoring going early in game two as he hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the first frame to give the Cru an early 1-0 lead. UMHB scratched two more runs in the second inning after Guerin stole home and Muniga hit an RBI double. The Cru extended their lead in the fourth inning on an RBI triple by Herrera to make it 4-0. UMHB would continue and complete their scoring for the night in the sixth inning with RBI sacrifice flies by deBerardinis and Jones followed by
Drake Herrera stealing home, making the score 7-0.
Rahul Champaneri started on the mound for the Cru and earned the win (1-1) throwing 5 shutout innings, giving up just three hits and striking out nine.
Trevor Ripke would come in relief, throwing two innings giving up three hits and striking out three batters.
Chris Dubois and
Cameron Bogan each threw an inning of relief work, each allowing zero hits and striking out two. Ryan Culp started on the mound for the Roos and surrendered the loss as he gave up five runs through five innings of work on eight hits. Herrera led the Cru with two hits in the contest as eight other Crusaders added a hit of their own.

The two teams will complete the series tomorrow with a single game starting at 1 P.M. at Red Murff Field in Belton.
