Softball finishes series with 6-1 win over UT Dallas

RICHARDSON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team completed a three-game sweep over the University of Texas at Dallas with a 6-1win in game three Saturday afternoon in Richardson.
 
Megan Todd gave the Comets a lead in the first inning with an RBI double that scored Ashley Ambrosy. The Comets held that lead until the third inning when Lexi Harris hit an RBI single to score Lindsey Polleschultz. Harris hit in another run with another RBI single in the fifth inning to give the Cru a 2-1 lead. UMHB sealed the win with a four-run sixth inning. Julia Crofut hit a two-RBI home run over the centerfield wall before Tatum Stover hit a single-shot home run to left field. Bailey Wagner drove in Kendall Tramel with an RBI single to seal the 6-1 win for the Cru.
 
Harris, Stover, Crofut and Bailey Eggleston led the Cru with two hits each while Harris and Crofut each drove in two runs. Six Crusaders combined for runs as the Cru left just five on base. Rachel Williams earned the win in the circle, throwing three shutout innings with two hits allowed. Emilie Hoelscher took the loss for the Comets, throwing five innings with four runs and six hits allowed. UMHB totaled six runs on nine hits with one error while the Comets had one run on four hits with one error. 
 
UMHB improved to 17-5 on the season and 10-2 in American Southwest Conference action while the Comets fell to 15-7 overall and 7-5 in league play. The Cru returns to action on Friday, March 25th in a 3 p.m. doubleheader against Belhaven University at Dee Dillon Field in Belton.
