BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team defeated Sul Ross State University 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Belton. The victory improved the Cru to 28-9 on the season and 21-6 in league play while the Lobos fell to 20-17 overall and 13-14 in ASC action.

The Lobos were first on the board with an RBI single by Jodie Vaughn in the top of the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead. UMHB answered back in the bottom of the inning with a triple from
Bailey Stoker to score
Elissa Elliott and
Kendall Tramel. The Cru used the very next at-bat to gain an insurance run with an RBI single from
Blakely Niles to score Stoker, expanding the lead to two. The final innings remained scoreless and UMHB claimed the 3-1 victory.

UMHB totaled eight hits led by
Elissa Elliott and
Bailey Stoker with two each. The Lobos totaled one run on five hits.
Bayleigh Grogan earned the win (11-6) in the circle for the Cru, throwing four innings with four hits and one run allowed.
Rachel Williams also made an appearance in the circle for UMHB, throwing three innings with only one hit. Vaughn took the loss (12-9) for the Lobos, throwing five innings with seven hits and three earned runs.
