ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team edged the College of St. Scholastica 3-2 Saturday evening in Abilene. The Cru improved to a 2-0 record on the season while the Saints fell to 0-2 overall.
UMHB took the lead with a goal by
Maria Rico in the 28
th minute. The Cru extended their lead with a score from
Tyler Pierce off an assist from
Gabby Gibson. The Saints closed out the first half of action by cutting down the lead with a goal by Kaitlyn Sautter. UMHB tacked on an insurance goal by
Kristen Burdick on a penalty kick in the 79
th minute. The Saints claimed a late goal in the 84
th minute to bring the contest to 3-2, but were unable to comeback.
Rico led the Cru with six shots, with three on frame.
Mackenzie Worthy added four shots with two on goal. UMHB outshot the Saints 25-7.
Reagan Williams played all 90 minutes as goalkeeper making four saves.
The Cru return to action September 9
th against Our Lady of the Lake University at 2:00 P.M. in San Antonio, TX.
