MARSHALL, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team defeated Rhodes College 64-48 Sunday afternoon in Marshall. The Cru improved to 1-1 on the season while the Lynx fell to 0-2. 

UMHB responded in the second quarter, going up 17-14 at the 8:32 mark off a pair of layups from Arieona Rosborough. Rhodes answered with an 11-2 run to take the lead 25-19. With two minutes to go in the half, UMHB tacked on seven more points, led by Baker with five, to go ahead by one before the Lynx sank the final two shots to go into the half up 29-26. 

Rhodes extended the lead to eight points with 5:49 to go in the third. The Cru used five free throws and a lay up to cut the gap to four at the 1:54 mark, but could not overcome the deficit before the end of the third, closing the quarter down 46-39. 

UMHB opened the fourth quarter with a Baker jump shot before allowing Rhodes their only basket of the quarter. The Cru went on to score 23 unanswered points to claim the game 64-48. Ashley Faux and Baker led UMHB with seven points each while Rosborough added six in the frame. 

Lauren Baker led the Cru with 18 points while Rosborough added 15. Rosborough also led the team with six rebounds while Katelen Brooks added four assists. UMHB shot 32.3 percent in the contest with a 46.7 percent showing in the final frame. 

UMHB returns to action Friday, November 17th in a 2:00 p.m. (PT) / 4:00 p.m. (CT) contest against Willamette University in Forest Grove, Oregon.
