BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team earned a dominating 98-46 win over LeTourneau University Thursday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference play while the YellowJackets fell to 2-7 on the year and 0-3 in league action.
UMHB opened the game on a 9-0 run, led by
Arieona Rosborough with seven points in the stretch. LeTourneau finally got on the board with a three-pointer at the 5:43 mark and cut the gap to just four points with a pair of free throws at 4:39.
Lauren Baker responded with two foul shots for the Cru before
Jaycie Brisco hit a three to put the Cru back up by nine. UMHB held the YellowJackets scoreless for the final 4:39 of action, going into the second quarter up 20-5.
The Cru continued to lead by double-digits, going up by 22 with a three-pointer from
Alexis Carmosino at the 9:08 mark in the second frame. UMHB continued to build on that lead, going up by 32 at 4:16 with a three-pointer from
Josie Bruder. The Cru closed the quarter on an 8-0 run, heading into halftime up 53-15.
Arieona Rosborough led the Cru with 17 first-half points, followed by
Lauren Baker with eight and
Ella Hartmann with seven. UMHB shot 60 percent in the quarter and 50 percent in the first half, limiting the YellowJackets to a 20.8 performance in the first two quarters.
UMHB outscored the YellowJackets 22-17 in the third quarter, shooting 43.8 percent in the frame for a 75-32 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Cru maintained a substantial lead for the duration, earning the 52-point win.
Rosborough led the Cru with 22 points while
Lauren Baker added 12 and
Jaycie Brisco had 11. UMHB shot 48.6 percent in the contest and 39.1 percent beyond the arc, banking nine three-pointers in the contest. Rosborough also led the Cru with five rebounds and five assists while
Jaycie Brisco added a team-high four steals.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, December 9th in a 1 p.m. match against East Texas Baptist University at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
