LONGVIEW, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team dropped a one-run game to LeTourneau University Friday evening in Longview. The loss dropped the Cru to 14-9 overall while the YellowJackets moved to 16-7.
Grason Long opened the game with four scoreless innings, throwing two perfect frames with six strikeouts. UMHB scored the go-ahead run in the fourth inning when
Kaitlin Powers scored on an RBI single from
Lindsey Polleschultz. The Cru added two more runs on the next at-bat when
Lexi Harris doubled to score both Polleschultz and Crofut. UMHB had runners in scoring position in the next frame but the YellowJackets pitched out of the jam.
LeTourneau used a four-run sixth-inning to earn the 4-3 win. Maddie Flanery, Lexi Hutchins and Lauren Wilking all scored on RBI singles with Alexa Neilon adding the final run on a wild pitch. The Cru put the go-ahead run in scoring position in the seventh but was unable to convert, surrendering the 4-3 win to the YellowJackets.
Bryton Wright led the Cru with three hits while three other Crusaders added one each. Three different runners scored for the Cru while Harris drove in a team-high two RBI.
Grason Long threw five innings with five hits and three runs allowed.
Kami Flores pitched in relief, allowing one run on two hits. UMHB totaled three runs on six hits with one error while the YellowJackets had four runs on seven hits with three errors.

st in a 12 p.m. doubleheader in Longview.
