DULUTH, Minn. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer earned another road win in Wisconsin Sunday afternoon, beating St. Scholastica 3-0 to start the season with a pair of wins.
Breland Mungia scored the game-winner for the Cru in the 21st minute. Mungia found the low right corner off an assist from Mackenzie Worthy for the 1-0 lead. UMHB totaled 24 shots in the first half of action and limited the Saints to just one.
UMHB scored less than two minutes into the second half when Natalie Mason found the back of the net on a high-left shot. The Cru maintained that lead until the 79th minute when Worthy scored off a pass from Constance White.
"We had an incredible shift in intensity from the first half to the second," head coach Barry Elkins said. "It was a great response from our team and I am proud we are coming home with two wins."
Worthy led the Cru with 12 shots while Tanner Jarzombek added eight and Natalie Mason put up six. UMHB totaled 48 shots with 16 total shots on frame in the contest.
The Crusader defense allowed just one shot each half to the Saints and did not allow a shot on frame in the contest. Malyn Martinson, Kennedy Harris and Maren Fields all played more than 65 minutes on the Cru's back line with Ainsley Westlake and Reagan Williams splitting time at goalkeeper.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, September 9th in a 7:00 p.m. contest against Ohio Northern University at the Cru Soccer Field in Belton. Admission to all regular-season home games is free.
