JACKSON, Miss. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team recorded their fourth straight sweep with a 3-0 win over Belhaven University Thursday evening in Jackson. The Cru improved to 4-0 on the season while the Blazers fell to 0-5 overall.
The contest saw four tied scores before UMHB took hold of the lead at 6-5 with a kill from
Hannah Frasca. The Cru followed that with five-point and four-point runs, cruising to a 25-15 win. The Blazers were first on the board to start the second set. UMHB responded with an early six-point run and expanded the gap to as large as 12 in the 25-13 victory. UMHB opened the final set going ahead 5-0, highlighted by three kills from
Katie Warden. The Blazers used a duo of three-point runs to bring the game back within three at the 18-15 mark. UMHB capitalized on errors in the final points, completing the sweep with a 25-18 third set win.
Warden led the Cru with 12 kills while Frasca and
Kendall Harrington each added seven to UMHB's 39 total. The Cru offense was anchored by
Ella Brunson and Harrington with 16 assists each. Defensively, UMHB recorded five blocks, led by
Emily Millikan with three. The Cru limited the Blazers to just 23 kills while totaling 48 digs.
UMHB returns to action on Friday, September 8
th with two matches in Memphis. The Cru faces Austin College at 4:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. match against Rhodes College.
