Men’s and Women’s Cross Country compete at DBU Old Glory Gallup

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's and women's cross country raced in the DBU Old Glory Gallup Saturday morning in Grand Prairie. The men competed in an 8k race, while the women ran a 5k.
 
Presley Wall finished first for the Cru women in 89th place, collecting 83 points with a 5k time of 19:06. The next UMHB finisher was Laurel Jarrott with a final time of 20:17. Amanda Stockton (20:19), Chylar Greer (20:45), Mary Wittmer (21:35), Amiya Crosslin (21:49) and Maiah Jackson (21:58) also competed for the Cru. UMHB women placed 25th out of 46 teams with an average time of 20:24.4, in the race hosted by Division II Dallas Baptist University. Rice University came in first in the women's heat followed by Cal Poly Pomona and Dallas Baptist.
 
UMHB's top finisher in the men's competition was Andrew Young.  Young rounded out the 8k with a time of 27:29. Alfredo Lozano was the Cru's next finisher with a 28:16. Shannen Newman (28:36), Angel Calderon (28:54), Ryan Anderson (28:54) and Hayden Roussy (29:54) also ran for the Cru. East Central won the men's race followed by Cal Poly Pomona and Western New Mexico.
 
UMHB men and women will both race next in the Watson XC Classic in Clinton, Mississippi on Friday, October 18th.
