Women’s Basketball earns 30+ point win against Nebraska Wesleyan

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team earned a 33-point win over Nebraska Wesleyan University Saturday in Colorado Springs. The win improved the Cru to 4-1 on the season while NWU fell to 0-6.
 
The first quarter played scoreless until Remi Adeleke hit a tip-in at the 7:31 mark. Jaycie Brisco followed with a three-pointer to extend the lead before the Prairie Wolves hit a three-pointer to cut the gap. UMHB responded with a 12-0 run, taking a 17-3 lead with 2:42 left. Nebraska Wesleyan tacked on a trio of free throws before the Cru scored six more unanswered points. The Prairie Wolves hit a three-pointer with 10 seconds left in the frame, giving UMHB the 23-9 first-quarter lead.
 
The Cru opened the second quarter with five points before Brynn Sebek hit a three-pointer for NWU. UMHB added four more points and maintained at least at 15-point margin through the quarter, going into halftime up 36-21.
 
UMHB outscored the Prairie Wolves 29-12 in the third quarter and closed out the win with an 11-point fourth, beating Nebraska Wesleyan 76-43.
 
The Cru shot 36.8 percent in the contest, led by Josie Bruder with 21 points. Remi Adeleke, Amillion Fowler and Jaycie Brisco also added double-digit scoring tallies while ten different Crusaders scored for UMHB. Karlee Cronk led UMHB with nine rebounds, while Adeleke added seven. Brisco added team-highs in assists (four) and steals (five) while Bruder and Adeleke each added two blocks.
 
UMHB totaled 28 points in the paint with 25 turnovers. The Cru added 30 second-chance points with 46 points from the bench.
 
The Cru opens home action on Wednesday, December 4th in a 5 p.m. contest against Trinity University at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton. The Cru will also host Texas Lutheran University on Saturday, December 7th.
