ABILENE, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team played LeTourneau University to a scoreless draw in the 2024 American Southwest Conference Tournament Semifinal Thursday, falling 4-1 to the YellowJackets in penalty kicks.
The first half played scoreless with UMHB outshooting the YellowJackets 8-6 in the half. Both teams put a pair of shots on frame with
Chase Cherrington and
Peighton Raisey each adding one for the Cru.
UMHB again outshot LeTourneau in the second frame, putting up nine shots to the YellowJackets' three. The Cru added five shots in the overtime periods and did not allow LeTourneau a single look in extra time. The scoreless draw sent the contest into penalty kicks where LeTourneau converted its first four shots to earn the right to advance in tournament play.
The Cru ends the season as the regular-season champions with a 10-6-3 overall record and 7-0-1 mark in league play. LeTourneau advances to the ASC Championship and will face the winner of East Texas Baptist University and Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday, November 9th.
