BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team dropped a 4-5 decision to No. 9 Trinity University Tuesday evening in Belton. The loss dropped the Cru to 22-14 on the year while the Tigers moved to 28-9.
Rhett Grosz gave the Cru an early lead, hitting a solo home run in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 margin. UMHB added three more runs in the second inning for a 4-0 lead.

Chris Perez scored on stolen base and errant throw. Herrera scored on the next at-bat, reaching on an RBI single from
Cameron Talburt.
Trinity added two-run frames in the sixth and seventh to knot the game at four. Colt Harris scored the go-ahead run for the Tigers in the top of the eighth, hitting a solo home run for 5-4 lead. UMHB got a runner on in the eighth but was unable to score, surrendering the 5-4 win to the Tigers.
Rhett Grosz led the Cru with three hits while three other Crusaders each added one. UMHB totaled four runs on six hits with Talburt, Grosz and Herrera all recording RBI. The Cru threw seven pitchers in the contest with
Keegan Symons,
Gavan Hutton,
Jacob Haynes and
Robert Sanford all throwing shutout frames. Symons and Haynes did not allow a single hit in the outing while Hutton, Haynes,
Erick Roberts,
Mason Semmelmann and Sanford all recorded strikeouts.
UMHB returns to action this weekend at Sul Ross State University. The Cru opens the series in a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, April 26
th before closing with a 1 p.m. single on Saturday, April 27
th at noon.
