Volleyball goes undefeated in Wisconsin

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team went 4-0 this weekend in Wisconsin, improving their season record to 8-0.
 
UMHB opened the tournament with a three-set match against St. Scholastica. The first set played evenly, coming to an end with UMHB going using a six-point run to win 25-16. The second set mirrored the first before the Cru used a 25-18 final set to win the match. Natalie Hughes led the Cru with 11 kills along with two blocks and one service ace. Caitlyn Ellenburg tallied 16 assists and four aces in the match.  
 
The Cru earned a 3-1 win over tournament-host, Wisconsin-Superior. After winning the first set 25-21, the Cru dropped set two 25-16. The last two sets extended into extra points with UMHB finishing on top in both, 28-26 and 26-24. Kendall Harrington tallied 24 assists and 19 digs, followed by Dravyn Hurd with 15 kills and two blocks.  
 
Day two of the tournament began Saturday with the Cru earning a 3-0 win against Martin Luther. Kendall Harrington led UMHB in kills, aces, and blocks in the match. Caitlin Ellenburg tacked on 20 assists while Caiden Lasala had 10 digs.
 
Hamline University gave the Cru a challenge in the final game of the tournament. The Cru won the first two sets 25-21 before dropping the third 25-23. The final set played evenly with neither team leading by more than three points. UMHB pulled ahead in the final plays to win 25-21. The Cru out-blocked Hamline 10-2 with Kendall Harrington and Natalie Hughes tallying five each. Caitlyn Ellenburg had 20 assists on the game while Baylee Mobley added 12 kills.
 
The Cru returns to action in their home opener on Tuesday, September 10th. UMHB will take on Howard Payne University at 6:00 PM.
