Volleyball takes down Austin College

SHERMAN, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball took a four-set win against Austin College Tuesday evening in Sherman. With this win, the Cru improves to 17-5 on the season, while the Kangaroo's record fell to 15-8.

Baylee Mobley led the Cru in set one with six kills. The frame played back-and-forth until the 8-8 mark when UMHB pushed ahead by three, highlighted by a Mobley kill and service ace. The Cru held the lead for the remainder of the set, sealing the 25-16 win on a Raylee Schaffner kill.

Kills from Kendall Harrington and Baylee Mobley opened set two to give UMHB an early 2-0 lead. The Kangaroos answered with a four-point run to take over 4-2. After 11 tied scores, UMHB took control at 17-17, capitalizing on Austin College errors to make it a 21-17 set in favor of the Cru. Cameron Pesek closed out the 25-18 set win with a kill.

The Kangaroos stood their ground in the third set with a six-point streak mid-frame to go ahead 17-9. Austin College held the lead for the remainder of the set, winning 25-13, forcing a fourth set.

Dravyn Hurd struck first in the fourth with a kill to take the lead 1-0. The set played evenly with multiple knotted scores up until the 13-13 point. The Cru took control, scoring the final points of the match with five back-to-back kills, sealing the 25-19 set win, along with the 3-1 match victory.

Baylee Mobley was the leading Crusader offensively, tallying 19 kills and three service aces. Natalies Hughes followed with 11 kills, along with Raylee Schaffner who added 10. Kendall Harrington put up 44 assists, while Angie Garcia held down the defense with 23 digs.

UMHB returns to action on Sunday, November 2nd in Conway, Arkansas where they will take on Hendrix in a 12:00pm match.
