MARSHALL, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team dropped a 2-1 decision to LeTourneau University Friday afternoon in Marshall. This elimination game closed out UMHB's run in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament.
 
After two scoreless innings, the Cru struck first in the top of the third inning. Gabriela Vela led off with a single up the middle, advancing to second on a Madeline Stephenson sacrifice bunt. Shorey Nguyen then singled to left center, advancing to second on a throwing error from the YellowJackets, scoring Vela for the 1-0 lead. LeTourneau answered in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs on three hits, going up 2-1. The Cru was unable to respond, giving the YellowJackets the win.
 
Shorey Nguyen went one-for-two on the day with one RBI, while three other Crusaders each added one hit. Chloee Miller opened the game in the circle pitching 6.0 innings giving up just six hits with three strikeouts. Eileigh Whyte came in to close for Miller in the seventh, giving up no hits.
 
This closes out the season for UMHB with the Cru recording an overall record of 24-16.
