HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to University of St. Thomas Thursday night in Houston. The loss drops the Cru to 2-1-2 while the Celts improve to 2-1.
St. Thomas got on the board early, scoring in the 14
th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Celts held that lead through the half, extending it to two goals in the 51
st minute. St. Thomas went ahead by three at the 66:12 mark before
Davin Khaffaji scored for the Cru, cutting the gap back down to two. St. Thomas held on for the duration, earning the 3-1 win.
Khaffaji and
Alex Bethke led the Cru with two shots each while two other Crusaders each added one. UMHB put three shots on frame in the contest.
Mack Elliott took the loss in the net, making one save in seven shots faced.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, September 13
th in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Austin College in Sherman.
